What an insightful article. I am a regular customer at University Station and agree with Mr. Gillespie about the long lines. It’s ludicrois and insulting to think they want to take this service away and would be saving ZERO dollars! What is the Post Office thinking? Keep them open!

Great to have this type of investigative reporting. Nonetheless, it would be most useful to have the data viewable without some extra plug in.

The ladies at the Green St. location are my favorite. I love going in there.

@William - Krekel’s was a colossal disappointment when I had it last summer.  Poor consistency and flavor profile in comparison to the depth of Jarling’s.  To each their own! @JohnSteinbacher - your LDR/Meatheads comparison was spot on!

I have to agree with Mr. Presidente: nice try Jason, more generous than most of us would be; but King Hogan has already established he doesn’t give a damn about what even faculty thinks. Now to whoever has “Professor” Troyer’s office over at the Psychology Building, you…

@ FWIW Krekel’s is a chain. It might help if you fact check your responses before . . .

For what it’s worth, I thought this was a well-written and thoughtful article.

Dear J, Tough cookies. Don’t like it here, transfer to ISU. As for the emails, next time I’ll instruct staff to send ‘em from the public library where the unwashed masses live. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to sit for photos. I am having life-sized…

The burger I had when I went there was delicious, no doubt.  Downside is there’s no combo for burgers + fries, but that’s not worth having a fuss over.  I believe when I went it cost about 23 dollars for 2 meals (including drinks)—so not terrible, but…

@6. As his editor, I take full responsibility for that. Damn it.

I tried going there for lunch today, but couldn’t. No parking.  While that’s a nice problem for a restaurant to have, that may cause some people not to try a 2nd or 3rd time.

An article with the word “accoutrement,” but also “could care less.”  Huh.

Thanks for the input, guys. I didn’t forget about Common Ground Food Co-op or The Red Herring - this article was my FAVORITE meatless meals of 2011, and there were only 10 spots. Also, I wanted to highlight some places where people might not expect to find great meatless meals.

{username}

You also forgot about the deli at Common Ground Food Co-op.

Meatheads is the Lana Del Rey of local burger chains.

i’ve eaten at meatheads twice now and its really good. thats just a fact. but william, the author stated that meatheads is the best burger “chain” in central illinois. not the best overall. not anything else. that is a very fair argument to make. god forbid someone…

@William Kind of comedically and tragically reminiscent of this: http://www.theonion.com/articles/olive-garden-voted-best-italian-restaurant-in-annu,3256/

Oh, the correct answer is Krekel’s.

C-U listed as #4 in “5 American Cities Nearly Destroyed by the Recession”

Champaign-Urbana is listed in a recent article that details five cities struggling the most to recover from the recession. According to the report, only 2.7% of lost jobs will be recovered by the end of the year. You can check out the full article on Yahoo. On the bright side, at least we're not in Nevada.

There isn’t a Paypal donation link that I’m not seeing, is there?

Well, we agree on some things—the article has holes. And some of the people probably should not face charges. I assume the court will resolve that issue. I disagree about it being just a friendly poker game. When you have ledgers and when it apparently takes place…
